Privacy
streamchen has no accounts, so there is very little about you to hold. This page is the whole of it.
What is stored
- A random session id in a cookie. It is how a room knows two requests came from the same person. It is not linked to an identity.
- The songs you queue and the votes you cast, attached to that session id and to the room you are in.
- A generated nickname so the queue is readable, which you may replace with any name you like. You are never asked for a real one, and whatever you choose applies to that room only.
- No email address, no password, no profile. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers. Every asset on this page is served from this server — including the cat avatar beside your name, which is drawn on this server rather than fetched from an avatar service.
- No audio files. Media is streamed through and deleted the moment a track finishes — nothing is retained after playback.
How long it is kept
- Rooms and everything in them are deleted once nobody has used them for 7 days. A host can delete a room immediately at any time.
- Chat is never written to the database. A room keeps its last few dozen messages in memory so somebody arriving mid-conversation can follow it, and they are gone when the room is — or sooner.
- Temporary caches (track titles, stream addresses, presence) expire on their own within hours and can be cleared at any moment without losing anything.
Your host key
When you create a room you receive a host key. The server keeps only a hash of it, so it cannot be recovered or handed to anyone else — including you. Host rights otherwise ride on your session cookie; clearing site data means giving them up unless you kept the key.

Third parties
When a song is played, this server fetches it from YouTube. streamchen is not affiliated with YouTube, and your browser never contacts it — only the server does.
The same is true of the hourly news, in rooms whose host switched it on: the bulletin is fetched from a podcast feed by this server, and streamed to the room like any other audio. Your browser never talks to the broadcaster, and nothing about who is in the room leaves this server.
